Feeling Butterflies, by CP
I remember a couple of years ago, I received the best gift in the world, if it's even possible to label it. Like a little girl, they took me to see a zoo, and to my surprise...
Friday, a peaceful autumn afternoon, the end of the work week, with no plans in sight. The evening seems cool, so I settle down to enjoy some music and reading on the couch. Minutes pass, and those minutes have turned into a couple of hours, from dusk to nightfall.
A melody plays, my butterflies wake up, they identify that song, it's you, I know it's not a call but a message, the butterflies flutter and flutter, the surprise is as pleasant as it is unexpected and unsettling. I put down the book and read your message.
““Hello! How are you? Where are you?”
Surprised, I think about where your busy circle of friends and schedule have taken you today, what party you'll have, or what trip has come up.
But I put aside my mind that does not stop thinking hastily about such a situation and I answer you “Hello! What a lovely surprise to receive a message from you. Well, here I am, enjoying a relaxing afternoon of music and reading on the couch at home. It's cool outside, and the blanket feels perfect. So I stop for a second, I don't think, I just react, and I ask you. “And you, how are you? Where are you?”
Your answer is short, clear, concrete and concise: “At the door of your house”.
The butterflies in my stomach flutter nervously and flutter about, they are the ones that get me to stand up and head for the door.
A double feeling invades my thoughts. Could it be true? Will I open the door and it won't be there? I hesitate for a moment, not wanting another disappointment... although the desire to see you is greater and so great that I don't hesitate and open the door. It's true, there you are, it's you, standing in front of me, seeing my surprised face and waiting for my reaction.
You see me standing in front of the door with my mouth open, you react and decide to enter, in one step and in a single movement, you surround me with your arms, while my legs do not stop shaking you hold me affectionately and close my lips with a kiss that conveys to me and says "I love you, I have missed you so much, I will not leave you alone again." My butterflies are in my throat, all crowded together and, their desire to come out is so strong that they separate me from your mouth, they come out all together, unstoppable and whisper IDEM to you. Lyrics that perhaps say little but for whoever hears them, mean and say too much.
Something's ringing again, I realize, and I was dreaming of you again. This time, the butterflies sigh, hoping that one day they'll become a reality and manage to fly away from my stomach like they did once before.
Feeling butterflies means waking up from such a wonderful dream with the hope that one day it will come true, and that when hearing our song the butterflies in my stomach can flutter because something good is going to happen and they never stop repeating it again. IDEM.
